Frequently asked questions.

How does Bree’s approach to sleep differ from current approaches?

Bree’s approach aligns with the Possums Sleep Program, with a focus on maternal mental health and the infant’s individual sleep needs.

Understanding the interaction between the NDC’s 5 domains of; infant health, mother’s health, sleep, sensory experiences, and feeding, the 60 minute consult will explore a holistic approach to sleep.

Evidence demonstrates that there is no link between current ‘sleep training’ methods and improved infant sleep. That’s why Bree’s approach focuses on intuitive methods, steering clear of strategies like cry it out, the interval/’controlled’ crying, generalising babies needs through wake windows etc. She believes in nurturing a comforting and supportive environment for restful sleep for the whole family.

What is Bree’s approach to lactation support?

Bree utilises the NDC’s fit and hold technique of the Gestalt method.

The Gestalt method has been particularly effective in resolving and/or preventing nipple pain, unsettled behaviour at the breast, poor satiety and milk transfer and increasing the chance of an ongoing breastfeeding journey .

Understanding the interaction between the NDC’s 5 domains, as listed above, the 60 minute consult will touch on all domains to understand each families needs.

What will be discussed during an Unsettled Infant Appointment?

During this appointment type, Bree will discuss, in depth, the 5 domains, as listed above, in order to provide support to families who have concerns regarding their babies amount of crying.

Bree can provide support on issues such as colic, reflux, allergies, wind pain and more.

Bree works collaboratively with other medical professionals to support the family if additional referrals are required.

My partner/support person is unable to make the in person consultation but would like to be included. What are our options?

Bree is happy to work with each family and offer video capabilities during the consultation for another family member/support person. Printed educational materials can also be provided after the consultation.
